“Referees are like an electric oven.” Klopp angry with referees at Liverpool vs Brentford game

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has said in light of the German manager’s anger over Monday’s 3-1 loss to Brentford, there’s no point in complaining about the referees of English Premier League football matches because it’s like talking to an electric oven.

Klopp said he believes Brian Mbiumo’s third goal should not count as an infringement, saying Brentford has “expanded the application of the rules of the game”, especially as they push and pull kits at set pieces.

When asked if he had spoken to match officials about this, Klopp told BN Sports: “Yeah, but in reality it’s just like talking to my electric oven.” You won’t get any reaction, it’s always the same thing.

And he continued: “They advised us pre-season that the players should be careful at these moments because the referees will watch it. Look, everything seems pretty fair in games like this.”

Virgil van Dyck was one of three Liverpool players to leave the stadium between the two halves of the match, but Klopp confirmed that the defender change was due to a minor injury, while the other duo replaced Harvey Elliott and Kostas Tsimikas. It was for tactical reasons.

Liverpool are sixth, four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who are missing one game.
